Dr Melki obtained his PhD in molecular physiology and biophysics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville USA, where he subsequently completed his MD in May 1994.
He completed his Transitional Internship and Residency in Ophthalmology at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington DC and became Chief Resident, Ophthalmology.
In July 1998 Dr Melki was Clinical Fellow, Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, Boston and was Chief Fellow between 1999 and July 2000.
Since July 2000, Dr Melki has been Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology, Harvard Medical School and Director, Boston Eye Group, Brookline Massachusetts. In 2004, he held a Visiting Professorship at Georgetown University Medical Centre.
Dr Melki has published widely in leading international medical journals and has lectured extensively throughout the United States. He has also co-authored three Ophthalmogical text books and has instructed Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgical techniques at many internationally-accredited courses.
