Services for Private Patients

Why Go Private?

As a private patient, you will be given fast access to all our services. You’ll be able to make an appointment at a time that’s convenient for you, with a consultant of your choice. As a private patient, you will benefit from some technologies that are not available on the NHS.

For example, under the NHS, patients are offered “mono-focal” lenses which are highly effective at restoring distance vision after cataract service. However, as a private service, SMTC offers a “multi focal” lens. For certain patients, this lens restores a full range of vision reducing the need for glasses, including reading glasses. These lenses are not available on the NHS but UKSH offers them to all private patients.

What treatments does UKSH offer private patients?

UKSH offers you the opportunity to pay for a one-off private treatment. The treatments available to private patients are:

Ophthalmic Surgery
Radiology – MRI, Xray, Ultrasound
