Knee Replacement

Knee joint replacement is surgery to replace a painful damaged or diseased knee joint with an artificial joint (prosthesis). The procedure of knee joint replacement is called a total knee arthroplasty (TKA). This surgery involves replacing your knee joint with a man-made one. Doctors may replace your knee joint to end pain, stiffness, and loss of function.

You will experience moderate pain after surgery. However, the medical staff will ensure your pain is under control.

The hospital stay generally lasts 4 days, but you will not be sent home until your consultant, your physiotherapist and you feel comfortable.

Our ability at UKSH to provide you with a speedy recovery is due to our expertise, commitment, and regularly reviewed education programme.
