Mr Lupparelli trained at the Medical School in Rome where he achieved his Degree in Medicine and Surgery and Licence to Practice in 1992, and his Diploma in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 1997. He subsequently worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Perugia, Italy, both in the public and private sector. He then moved to L’Aquila University, Italy in 2006 where he was a part-time lecturer until 2008 while continuing his surgical practice as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Mr Lupparelli registered with the General Medical Council in the UK in 2003 and worked part-time for both the NHS and a UK independent sector treatment centre before joining the Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre in January 2009.

He has cultivated an interest in clinical research, authoring and co-authoring 16 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals as well as presenting numerous papers in national and international conferences. He is currently a reviewer of the Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group (CMSG) and a scientific consultant to the Gerson Lehrman Group Healthcare and Biomedical Council in the USA.
