Dr Ainley has worked in endoscopy for many years and has extensive experience in all forms of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. A graduate of the University of Wales in Cardiff in 1976, Dr Ainley first trained in endoscopy as a registrar in 1977.

He was an Associate Specialist in Gastroenterology at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital from 1999, gaining specialist registration as a Gastroenterologist in 2006. Dr Ainley is a JAG-accredited endoscopy trainer.
