Dr Swiatkowski achieved his medical diploma in Poland and went on to obtain first and second degrees in anaesthesiology and intensive therapy. In 2001, he obtained an MD PhD in the prevention of post-operative nausea and vomiting in women after laparoscopic surgery. He is also qualified in emergency medicine and has received theoretical specialist training in cardioanaesthesia and neuroanaesthesia.
Before joining the Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre, Dr Swiatkowski worked as a lecturer at the Medical University of Lublin. He has also held posts as a consultant anaesthetist and as an assistant to the reanimation and neonatology ambulance.
Dr Swiatkowski has written and co-written a number of publications related to his specialism.
