UKSH appoints new Registered Manager for Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre

UKSH has appointed Chester Barnes to manage patient care at their flagship facility in Somerset.

Chester will be responsible for the smooth running of the Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre (SMTC), which performs routine surgery on patients referred by the two local Primary Care Trusts in Somerset and Dorset.  His role is to ensure the patient's experience - from arrival to discharge - is of the highest possible quality.

A Maths graduate from the University of Exeter with over 20 years' professional experience, Chester has a broad range of financial management and leadership experience gained predominantly from the private healthcare sector, most recently at Spire Healthcare where he was Hospital Director at their Tunbridge Wells hospital.

Fiona Calnan, UKSH Chief Executive said "I am delighted that Chester Barnes has agreed to take on this key role.  His extensive experience in the healthcare industry makes him the ideal candidate to lead SMTC and to implement the long-term vision for the treatment centre."

Commenting on his appointment, Chester Barnes said: "UKSH is one of the most dynamic new players in the independent healthcare sector, with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality patient care".  I am delighted to be joining UKSH and I am looking forward to the challenge of developing SMTC further".
