UK Specialist Hospitals named as finalist for five prestigious industry awards

UK Specialist Hospitals (UKSH) was recently selected as a finalist in five categories for the 2011 Laing & Buisson Independent Healthcare Awards.  This is the industry’s most prestigious awards competition for privately run hospitals in the UK. 

UKSH was shortlisted in the following categories: Management Excellence, Best Use of Technology, Entrepreneurial Achievement, Hotel Services and Excellence in Risk Management.  The company won the top award in Hotel Services in 2010.  Winners of the 2011 awards will be announced in September.

Commenting on the award nominations, CEO Fiona Calnan said, “Being selected as a finalist in five categories for the respected Laing & Buisson awards is a testament to the work that our entire staff undertakes each day to provide patient-centred care at our hospitals.  We are honoured to have our efforts recognised.”
 
UKSH operates five NHS treatment centres across the South West focussed on delivering high-quality clinical services to NHS patients.  The centres are located in Cirencester, Devizes, Emersons Green, Shepton Mallet and Plymouth. 

UKSH delivers planned surgical procedures on behalf of the NHS and prides itself on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and patient care. NHS patients can take advantage of all the award winning services and facilities by speaking to their GP about their treatment choices. 

UKSH has treated over 65,000 NHS patients since opening its first treatment centre in July 2005.
