Dr David Helfet, MB, Ch.B

Current Role

Dr Helfet is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University

He is Attending Surgeon, Department of Orthopaedics, at the Hospital for Special Surgery and New York- Presbyterian Hospital New York, New York. He is also Director of the Combined Orthopaedic Trauma Service at the Hospital for Special Surgery / New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

Experience

Dr Helfet was formerly the Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at John Hopkins University, School off Medicine, Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Florida School of Medicine and Associate Professor Orthopaedic Surgery at Cornell University Medical College

Education

Dr Helfet obtained his BSc and his MBChB the University of Cape Town, South Africa, did his internship at the Edendale Hospital in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and his Residency at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. He subsequently did a Fellowship at Insel Hospital of the University of Bern in Trauma-Arthroplasty and a Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles in Sports Medicine.­
