Mr Papp trained at the Medical School in Pecs, Hungary, where he achieved full marks with honours. As a postgraduate he achieved the fellowship qualifications as Specialist General Surgeon from the Hungarian Exam Board. He is a member of the Hungarian College Of Surgeons, Hungarian Medical Council and the Hungarian College of Thoracic Surgeons. Mr Papp has full GMC registration on the specialist register for general surgery.

Before joining Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre he led the laparoscopic department of Bajcsy Zsilinszky Hospital in Budapest. This department dealt with advanced laparoscopic surgery (laparoscopic colorectal surgery, upper GI surgery, hernia surgey and endocrine surgery).

Mr Papp also performed emergency surgery and has eleven years experience in this area. He has wide experience within thoracic surgery and has performed hundreds of procedures over the last five years.
