Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre Showcases Healthcare Innovation

The New Zealand Associate Minister for Health and Minister for Revenue, The Honourable Peter Dunne visited The Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre.

The Honourable Peter Dunne, New Zealand Associate Minister for Health and Minister for Revenue paid a visit to the Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre, meeting with local residents and Fiona Calnan, CEO of UKSH.

Mr Dunne is in Europe on a 'fact-finding misson' to assess innovative healthcare solutions involving the collaboration between the public and private sector to treat NHS patients. Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre is regarded as a centre of excellence in the ISTC programme in the UK. The facility in Shepton Mallet is only one of two healthcare facilities the Minister is visiting in the UK. He has already visited exemplar facilities in Holland and Spain.

He commented, "I heard about the Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre at a conference recently and was keen to see it first hand.

The work being undertaken here is very impressive. Their innovative approach to treatment and the high quality patient care is superb. It was clear to me that patients were highly satisfied by how well they were treated by the team at Shepton Mallet".

The Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre is operated by UK Specialist Hospitals, offering elective procedures to NHS patients. The centre has treated 35,000 NHS patients since opening.
