Local hospitals celebrate second birthdays

On Wednesday 2 November UKSH South West, which operates Cirencester, Devizes and Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centres, celebrated two years of treating local patients. UKSH South West has performed over 26,500 procedures since the three treatment centres opened in November 2009.

The centres celebrated the day by offering all patients and visitors a free tea or coffee and a celebratory cupcake on their arrival. Patients were also given complementary entry to a raffle with the chance of winning a hamper full of local Westcountry produce.

The prize-draws were made on 03 November, Mr Trevor Ellis (pictured) from Swindon was the lucky winner of the Cirencester raffle; Rosemary Spicer from Trowbridge (pictured with husband Roger) won the Devizes raffle and Carole Hibbard (pictured with daughter Rachel) from Longwell Green won the Emersons Green raffle.

Pam Mackie, Registered Managers of Emersons Green said, “The treatment centres have gone from strength to strength over the last two years and we’re proud to have seen them develop into valuable parts of the local health communities. Patient feedback since we opened has been extremely positive and we will look to build on that and further improve our services for local patients in the future.”

Cirencester and Devizes NHS Treatment Centres offer NHS patients swift access to a wide range of daycase treatments such as hand, foot and knee, gynaecological and ear, nose and throat procedures. It also provides services within endoscopy, general surgery and urology.

Emersons Green NHS Treatment Centre also offers inpatient procedures such as hip and knee replacements, as well as a wide range of daycase treatments including cataract surgery.

The treatment centres have a zero per cent rate of hospital acquired MRSA and 99% of patients sampled during September would recommend them to a friend.
